Welding Fundamentals – From Beginner to Skilled Welder
About This Course
This Welding Fundamentals programme is designed to equip learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to perform basic to intermediate welding tasks safely and confidently. The course introduces common welding processes such as Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG), as well as oxy-fuel cutting and basic fabrication techniques.
Learners will explore welding theory, joint design, blueprint reading, metal preparation, and quality inspection, while spending significant time in a workshop setting to practice real welds on plate and simple structural projects. Safety is emphasized throughout, including personal protectie equipment (PPE), safe handling of cylinders and equipment, and prevention of fire and electrical hazards. By the end of the programme, participants will have a strong foundation to pursue entry-level positions in welding, fabrication, or further advanced trade training.
